The following pictures were taken by Duane Allen, former EAA393 webmaster and newsletter editor.  He takes lots of people pictures.  You can see the 600 pixel version by clicking on the small picture below.  To see the 1200 pixel wide one click on the text.  You will notice the 1200 pixel wide file is about 3x the size of the 600 pixel version.  (Beware dial-up users).   You will notice that Lori had the undivided attention of the attendees throughout the 2 hr. tour.  That speaks to her knowledge of the operation.  She is a walking encyclopedia.   If you want the whole image (2048x1320 pixels) contact Duane.

The image at left shows two new P51s being fabricated from scratch.  Cal-Airmotive has a complete set of blueprints from North American and can build any part to original  specs.

After the tour was over, or it was stopped to go eat, Pat and crew provided BBQ tri-tip and fixins.

I counted 13 airplanes on the line during the meal.  (See photos 1 & 2 at top of page).  According to Harvard's count, there were 30 persons from 393 in attendance.  They are as follows:
  • Harvard Holmes, Sara and Nat, without their Mooney.
  • Phil  Jenkins and Ron Robinson in Phil's Glasair.
  • Bob Belshe and Lou Ellis In Bob's Lancair 290.
  • Harry Heckman and Walter ? in Harry's Lancair 235.
  • Fred Egli, Guy Jones, Gary Cole, & Rich Henne in Fred's Lancair IV.
  • Scott Achelis in his pickup as he was working in Aptos that day.
  • Duane Allen, Garrett Dang, Steve Marsh and his lady friend, Jacquie in Duane's Cardinal Classic..
  • Pat and Tracy Peters and two guests in their Warrior.
  • Keith Martz, Larry Roessler, Louis Goodell, and Ray Nilson in Keith's Comanche.
  • Bruce Milan and guest in Bruce's Questair Venture.
  • Pete and Jeannie Wiebens in their Glasair III.

A total of 30 which is believed to be the most to attend a chapter fly-out to date.

The tour was very interesting.  Lori just talked and talked.  Geeze that girl is full of information.  People just soaked it all up and asked questions about details that she never seemed to be short on answers for.  The tri-tip looked good, sorry I never tried it.  There were pasta salads as you can see in the food photos, deviled eggs thanks to Guy Jones, and lots of drinks and chips. (I did have one of those).  Pat Smith and his wife Sheridan along with others from EAA Chapter 204 and SOPA (Salinas Owners and Pilots Association) whose names I don't recall did an outstanding job of hosting us.  Hopefully someday we will be able to reciprocate.  Thanks to all who participated and especially those who helped to bring it all together.  [Commentary by Duane Allen].  Back to Page 1.
