Board of Directors Meeting March 9, 2002

Informal Notes

Present: Harvard Holmes, Louis Goodell, Bruce Hobbs, and Duane Allen

Items discussed:

1.  Membership renewals are due;; Louis will send email to those for whom we have an address.

2.  Will members depart if they can get the Cleco for free on-line?  Harvard doesn't think so, but we'll see.

3.  Web stuff– our URL expires July 2003. our web hosting expires September 5, 2003.

The board approved reimbursement of Duane for the cost of web hosting ($140 for 2 years) which he had earlier paid from his own funds. Duane was earlier repaid for the cost of the URL ($70 for 2 years).

4.  Web technology – Duane recommended pictures for the web be submitted at 800 by 600 approximately, and thumbnails be 100 x 75 or so.

5.  Do we want to sponsor Young Eagles at Moffit Field on International Young Eagles day, Saturday June 8th?  Duane reported that Chapter 62 has declining energy for this task, and a new lead Chapter is needed.  Duane has led this effort several times in the past few years, and new blood is needed. Duane reports that the Airport Manager at Moffit wants to do it. The work would be a couple of meetings at Moffit with the Airport Managerand Security, and a great deal of work on publicity. A considerable number of pilots are probably available from San Carlos (20 in the past) and from Palo Alto and Reid Hillview, as well as Chapters further away.  Duane reports that this is the only opportunity to fly into Moffit, and that makes the event a big draw.

6.  After the meeting, Harvard, Louis and Bruce went to Marie Calendar's for some Holiday Party reconnaissance.  We met with Mary Mino.  The restaurant has a small banquet room adjacent to a lounge.  With80 people, we would overflow into the lounge. With the lounge, it seems easy to accommodate our group.

A $100 deposit is required to hold the date. Refundable upon reasonable notice.
