Board of Directors Meeting April 6, 2002

Informal Notes

The CAP had taken over the terminal building, so shortly after 10:30 am we moved to Duane Allen's hangar on the South East ramp. Thanks Duane!

Attending: Guy Jones, Duane Allen, Louis Goodell, Pat Peters, Tracy Peters, Harvard Holmes, Bob Belshe

Pat Peters reported that he had talked to The Airport Coalition and TAC wants a Father's Day airshow next year. Pat is committed to Father's Day events at Golden West next year. The plan for an Airport Appreciation Day in late spring does not seem to have enough support, so it will not be further pursued.

Pat is considering a more regularly scheduled Young Eagles day at Concord, perhaps the second Saturday of every month in the summer when good weather is reasonably likely.

Duane reviewed the situation at Moffett field regarding International Young Eagles day, June 8. Duane has run this event in the past; Chapter 62 has generally had the lead in setting it up. Last year there was some friction in making the arrangements with the Moffett Field PR department. This year Chapter 62 seems less able to support it. Our Chapter does not have volunteers to take this on. There is some risk that nobody will do it and the event will die.

The MDPA is having a pancake breakfast Sunday, April 21, 2002. See their webpage http://www.mdpa.org/progs02.htm

The Golden West EAA Fly-In is September 6,7,8 this year at Marysville Airport. The organization is having a fund raising Casino Night in Sacramento on May 25. Check with Tracy Peters to get the details.

Everybody is invited. See http://www.gwfly-in.org/gwaa/gwaahome.shtml Next year the event will move (per EAA National) to the 3rd week in June to avoid conflicts. Bob Rudolph, could you add some of these dates to the Chapter Events Schedule in the Cleco.

On May 11, Marysville is having a Chapter Round Table for West Coast Regional Fly-In. Chapter Officers and others are invited. See Tracy Peters for details.

For our July Picnic, Bob Belshe volunteered that he and Fred Egli would be in charge. Tracy Peters will help with drinks and relishes. Louis Goodell will also help.

Our Christmas Party is pretty much set for Marie Calendars for Dec 14, 2002. Opinions on wine were that many members would appreciate it, and that given the restaurant prices we would do well to buy our own and pay the $5 corkage fee.
